St. Luke's UMC usually dates her story to January 11, 1953 when a group from Central Avenue Methodist Church began worshiping in the Broad Ripple American Legion Hall. Now take advantage of the opportunity to hear about 120 years of Central Avenue's history as told by storyteller Sally Perkins. Central Avenue was once the largest Methodist congregation in the state and its members made a powerful contribution not only to the creation of St. Luke's but to the creation of Indianapolis. Be captivated by personal stories of more than 25 church members - stories of success and struggle through a century of change. Indiana Landmarks, Bill Cook and others have poured over $10 million into the complete restoration of this building, now the Indiana Landmark's Center.
"Hugged by These Walls" was commissioned by Storytelling Arts of Indiana and Indiana Landmarks and generously supported by Frank and Katrina Basile.
